Adjusting for Smart phone width
At the rear of the Video GP Stand there is a securing knob which allows you make any necessary adjustments for the size of your smart phone, like the iPhone X to Galaxy Note 8 etc. The phone can be rotated between landscape (sideways) and Portrait (upright), just by adjusting this screw located at the back.
For controlling the Pan arm, you have to pull the arm socket, then twist to the angle you prefer, the pan arm will then lock back in to place. The Pan arm is spring loaded for this reason.
So the pan arm doesn’t show in the camera’s, you can position it where you feel more comfortable. This make the Joby GripTight Pro Video a very versatile tripod.
Joby Mounting Options
Now, if you are out and about, you will twist the legs you can secure the Joby GripTight Pro Video to a pole, log or a tree branch.
If you wish to put the phone in to Portrait mode (upright), just twist the knob at the back of the phone mounting bracket and twist the bracket 90 degree’s counter clockwise.
When placing the Joby GripTight Pro Video on a rough surface, the legs are easily adjustable to suit any surface or uneven terrain. The Joby GripTight Pro Video is more than capable of dealing with these awkward situations.
Final Comments
The Joby GripTight Pro Video is one very versatile tripod for most of the new smart phones. The tripod does support small compact camera’s or smaller DSLR’s but will not support the more expensive and Pro DSLR’s. The Joby GripTight Pro Video is primarily just for smart phones and I can see me using this in a LOT of situations. I really need to go out and field test it in many more situations. For Vloggers who love using their smart phones, this tripod will come in very handy.

this looks fantastic. Love how versatile it all is. I really need to get something like this for our travels and when I’m vlogging
This is the reason why Joby have released this type of tripod. For Vloggers who use the smart phones and the stability of taking selfies. They are way better than a selfie stick.

I am looking for a hands free way to take video with Iphone- going to Alaska- ie for dog sledding, can you recommend attaching this to a head band and if so , which brand is good ? Any other way to video- I am afraid a chest band would not give a good view. I am very much an amateur and not looking to get into photography or videoing in a bigger way. Thanks !!!!!!
