Landscape Photography Depth of Field

0

Depth of field is the limitation of perceived sharpness within a photographic image. The greater the depth of field, the more of the image from front to back that appears sharp.

An image that is said to have a shallow depth of field has a short and more specific depth of sharpness.

Landscape Photography

In photography, careful use of depth of field can be a very powerful tool indeed. It can force viewers to focus only upon that which is sharp, by utilizing a shallow depth of field.

Fantastic Photographic Trip Around London

As our eyes are not comfortable in viewing unclear images, we then tend to look at the parts of a sharp image, and our gaze will then focus upon that part of the image, rendering the other unsharp parts of the image as blurry and not worthy of our attention.

| Fantastic Photographic Trip Around London

This use of a shallow depth of field is particularly well suited to portraiture. As long as the eyes are sharp, most other things can be forgiven if they arenít pin sharp.

People and animals tend to look at the eyes first, and so the eyes need to be sharp in nearly all portraiture photography.

Long Exposures and Landscape Photography

Landscape photography is generally at the opposite end of the scale of the depth of field, where the vast majority of landscape images require a very long depth of field. Using a smaller aperture is normally required for landscape photography. Using an aperture of ƒ/11-ƒ/22 is usually provides the best results.

Fantastic Photographic Trip Around London

Using smaller apertures also result in slower shutter speeds, so will the use of a tripod. Keeping your ISO low is also important. This gives your photos more sharpness and crisp colours which would otherwise be done during the daytime.

Using a reliable tripod is also required. I enjoy doing night time long exposures. I find them fulfilling and explore cities and landscapes which we don’t always see during the evening.

| Fantastic Photographic Trip Around London

This is because landscapes generally are trying to emulate an actual scene as we see it, and viewers are usually drawn into the image by its great depth of field.

What is Depth of Field?

Depth of field is controlled in two ways. The most commonly used is by aperture control. The smaller the aperture (the larger the number ie. F22), the greater the depth of field.

Depth-of-Field-Diagram

The larger the aperture, (the smaller the number like F2.8), the shallower the depth of field. The apertures in between have a depth of field is that is directly proportionate to the aperture selected along the scale.

Fantastic Photographic Trip Around London

The second means of controlling depth of field is by using a camera or lens that enables the lens to be tilted forward or back. This enables the focusing plane of the lens to be more inclined to the plane of focus of the subject matter, and hence providing a much better depth of field without a change of aperture.

Photography and What is Depth of Field - Depth-Of-Field-Railings

It is one of the major reasons for using bellows-type cameras or tilt lenses. With such a camera or lens, one can have a huge level of control over depth of field at any aperture.

Lenses for Landscape Photography

Depth of field is also dictated by the focal length of the lens, and the camera format for which the lens is used. For instance, a wide-angle lens always has a much greater depth of field than a telephoto lens.

850_7959 | Snapping My Way Around Glasgow

A very wide-angled lens such as a 14mm lens has a depth of field so great that it almost doesnít require focussing, whereas a 600mm telephoto lens has an extremely shallow depth of field, and unless focussed upon long-distance subject matter, the depth of field will always be very limited indeed.

NZ-Hills | Why Exploring New Zealand Will Be a Trip of a Lifetime

On the other end of the scale are macro lenses, which are made to be able to focus very closely to objects.

Once you start moving in and start focussing very closely, the depth of field again becomes extremely shallow indeed.

Fountains-Abby-Rippon |

The closer you get to the subject, the less the depth of field becomes, and in extreme close-ups, just the slightest movement will cause the image to go out of focus entirely.

The Star Wars R2D2 Bop it

1

I am a total Star Wars Nerd/Geek. I am not the type of person who constantly talks about Star Wars or Star Wars related subjects in all my conversations. However, I will have a Star Wars movie marathon at least once a month. The same goes for some Star Wars toys out there which just happen to cross my path. So getting my hands on this Star Wars Bop It R2D2 toy was an opportunity not to miss.

I do look to see if there are some toys which I think, ‘That would be okay if the wife will let me have it’ or if you can justify to her how much it costs. So when the chance to review a Star Wars toy, which landed on my lap; I wasn’t exactly going to say no. Now this ‘IS’ the Droid ‘YOU’ are looking for! Sorry for the bad pun, but I couldn’t resist. The Star Wars R2D2 Bop-it is a toy for all ages.

Star Wars R2 D2 Bop it

The Star Wars Bop it

The Star Wars ‘R2D2 Bop It‘ or Star Wars Bop it is a very cool idea for engaging children of all ages and having family fun. The R2D2 Bop-it has managed to almost convert my daughter to Star Wars toys while also managing play with it non-stop. At one point, my daughter was playing with it more than her own toys.

Which is not normal for a girl, but she has been playing with Star Wars toy, so it’s a win-win for her geeky Dad. Just as it says in the box, the voice is supposed to be that of C3P0, although, in my opinion, it doesn’t sound anything like 3PO.

How To Play Bop It WIth R2D2

Star Wars R2D2 Bop It has three sections for the user to interact with. The first one is R2D2’s head. The top part of R2D2’s head starts off the music and is also part beginning rotation. R2D2’s head also twists and is the second action on the rotation list. When the game is not going, twisting R2D2’s head will set the volume level to Low, Medium or High. The final part of the rotation is R2D2’s legs. So, just re-iterate 3PO will then ask for either Bop-it, Twist it or Pull it. The game will get faster and faster, where the user will have less than 0.5 seconds to complete a turn before the next command is given.

Teen with R2D2 Bop It

If the user gets any of the game requests (Bop-it, Twist it or Pull it) wrong, R2 will Scream just like he does in the movie, as if he has blown a fuse.

3PO will then give you your highest score in that game. If the game is not restarted, 3PO will give a 10-second warning, ‘Bop-it to Start’. If you fail to start a new a Bop-it game, 3PO will automatically put R2 into standby mode.

Bop It Challenge

Having a bop it game on family nights can be fun events. There can be a great way to challenge family members by having a bop it challenge, having a Bop-it high score challenge.

The highest I ever got was 72 and by that time, the ‘R2D2 Bop It‘ was going so fast, that it was hard to keep up with the instructions. My daughter managed to get to 52, she tried and tried, but I think she never got to beat my score. I guess some dads can win at some game, lol.

Bop It Instructions

The Bop It instructions are very straight forward and can be different for each version of the game. Some Bop it games have ‘Flick-it’, ‘bop it’, ‘Twist it’, ‘Pull it’.

For the R2D2 Bop it game, the instructions are very simple. They are: ‘Bop it’, ‘Twist it’ and ‘Pull it’. You Bop It on R2D2’s head, you ‘Pull it’ or pull any of R2D2s legs and then you can also ‘Twist it’, as in twisting the R2D2 Bop-it head.

Single player mode or Two Player Mode

R2 has two players modes, single or a two-player mode (Pass it). To change the user mode, pull R2’s legs and 3PO will say which mode R2 is set to, 3PO will announce ‘Single or Pass It. When in two player mode, you both will have to be quick if you are both up for the game. The more sequences you both get right, the faster the R2D2 Bop-it will become, the higher the score will be at the end.

Where to Buy The Star Wars R2D2 Bop-it

Amazon.co.uk sell the Star Wars R2D2 Bop-it for around £18, you can View it Here. You can also buy other Bop It toys from Argos. With the Amazon.co.uk version has batteries are included (2x AAA).  Bop it Argos toys are also available, although slightly more expensive and the batteries are sold separately. So, I would recommend you purchase your Star Wars Bop it through Amazon.

I would say the Star Wars R2D2 Bop It toy is a great little investment for all the family and not just for the hardened Star Wars fan. It is not too expensive and can just sit with the rest of your memorabilia and just out of reach if you just want to keep it safe for the future. This is one toy I am glad I am not too old to play with, even when it comes to playing with my daughter.

Do We Really Need Travel Insurance?

Do We Really Need Travel Insurance?

Any unexpected expenses during your travel abroad need to be preplanned well in advance. Travel insurance is indispensable when you are traveling to a foreign country. Sometimes you are on your own and unforeseen incidents can strike any time without warning and without  notice. This can happen through no fault of your own, or through the fault of others. With Travel insurance your medical expenses or any other unforeseen expenses will be covered. So the question remains, ‘Do We Really Need Travel Insurance’ before we head out on our vacation?

Do We Really Need Travel Insurance - Suit case
Do We Really Need Travel Insurance – Suit case

Travel Insurance is basically an agreement between a traveller and an insurance company by which an insurance company is obliged to cover all the losses that you may incur during the trip abroad (although it would be wise to read what some Insurance company’s do not cover during your trip abroad). An insured person pays the premium either in single or multiple instalments.

Which is the right time to get the travel insurance?

For frequent travellers there are more broad permanent travel insurances that protect you during all your trips that meet certain requirements. Such online travel insurance or online insurance comparison websites, allow you to compare prices and the policies on offer.

What Happens In Case of Pre-Existing Medical Conditions?

Anyone with a serious pre-existing medical condition would find it tricky to attain a travel insurance. However, travel insurance companies can have been known to exclude all claims related to pre-existing medical conditions if not disclosed before the policy is taken out. Some insurers may cover for pre-existing conditions without any additional premium. Other travel insurance companies may have a medical screening system, which are usually carried out over the telephone or online. Where these screening methods are carried out, you may be asked a series of questions in order to assess the risk involved and to determine whether you can be given insurance.

What Am I Covered For By Travel Insurance?

The most common risks that are covered by travel insurance are flight delays, cancellations, limitations. Theft of luggage, delay or loss of personal possessions up to a certain amount when undeclared and up to any amount when declared and included in the policy is covered under such travel insurance. It will also cover for medical expenses whether due to illness or accident. This includes transportation to and from hospitals and clinics, physicians’ fees, medications, etc.

What Travel Insurance Covers

In case of death, all funeral expenses, benefits of accidental death, will be covered by the insurance. Legal coverage such as legal fees, personal liability for accidents in case you are responsible for the accident and have to bear the injured person’s medical expense. Moreover, there are other risks for which insurance can be purchased jointly or separately from a regular travel insurance contract.

Travel Insurance Features:

  • Medical expenses – provides cover towards the costs of emergency medical and surgical treatment while you are away.
  • Getting you back home (repatriation service) – cover is provided for the costs of emergency repatriation (for medical reasons) back to the UK.
  • Cancellation/curtailment – if you have to cancel or shorten your trip, this covers you for any travel and accommodation costs you have paid and can’t use or claim back.
  • Missed departure – covers costs of additional accommodation and travel expenses if you miss your departure flight, boat or train due to situations outside of your control – such as your car breaking down, being involved in an accident or public transport being delayed.
  • Delay – if your travel plans become delayed for example, due to industrial action, adverse weather or mechanical breakdown the insurer will pay you a certain amount.
  • Travel abandonment – if you have to abandon your trip and cancel your journey, this cover will reimburse your travel and accommodation expenses.
  • Baggage cover – covers your baggage if it is lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed.
  • Personal liability cover – this covers you if you are liable to pay damages due to accidental bodily injury to someone or for loss or damage to someone’s property.
  • Dental emergency – provides cover towards the costs of emergency dental treatment while you’re away. It usually only provides cover for the immediate relief of pain.
  • Money – replaces money or equivalent (like travellers’ cheques or pre-paid tickets) if it is lost or stolen.

  • Loss of passport – provides cover towards additional travel and accommodation expenses as a result of needing to replace a lost passport.
  • Different excess amounts – your insurance company might apply different excesses depending on the type of claim. For example, amounts might differ according to whether a claim is for cancellation, baggage loss, abandonment or personal liability.
  • Overseas days – maximum number of days that you are covered for whilst outside of the UK in any policy period.
  • Trip duration – maximum duration for any one trip during the policy period.
  • Receipts for baggage claims – when you need to claim for your baggage, some insurance companies will insist on proof, in the form of a receipt, for all baggage items or all items above a certain value.
  • Scheduled airline failure– covers you in the event of your airline going out of business.
  • Winter sports – covers you for winter sports like skiing, snowboarding, etc.

High Risk Travel Insurance

If you buy a travel package to a high risk destination, chances are that the policy will already contain those clauses, the same is applicable if you hire all the services needed to perform the high risk activities from the same agent. However, you should carefully read the policy before committing to anything and make sure that you are sufficiently protected.

Benefits of Having Travel Insurance in the EU

Travelling within the EU, there are benefits of acquiring the EU medical card which entitles you to free treatment but it does not cover everything. In the long term, medical insurance will give you peace of mind, that should something dramatically happen, you can get your money back or have the insurance company pay them directly. Either way, it is better to be safe rather than sorry, should something unexpectedly happen. I know the fine print is not enjoyable  and tedious to read.

Explore New Zealand and a Trip of a Lifetime

8

Ever since I learned that my wife once lived in New Zealand, I have wanted to Explore New Zealand for many years and some of the locations for the Lord of The Rings and the Hobbit. But Where is New Zealand?

To Explore New Zealand is something which may time more than a few attempts, where I know I want to visit and explore New Zealand more than just once in my lifetime at least.

Where is New Zealand - The Lonely Tree

How Big is New Zealand?

New Zealand consists of two main islands, the North and the South about the size of the State of Colorado, USA. So Just How Big is New Zealand? New Zealand is about 1000 miles (1600 km) long if you include both the north and south islands. It is roughly about 280 miles at New Zealand’s widest point.

What Time is It In New Zealand?

When you arrive in New Zealand, you will discover that the time difference from the UK to NZ varies at different times of the year you visit. Because New Zealand is in the Southern Hemisphere and about 1,346 miles from Sydney – Australia to Auckland, New Zealand or 3.5 hours via plane. You have to cross two time zones to get from Australia to New Zealand. So what time is it in New Zealand during the UK summer months? The time in New Zealand will be DST (UK Daylight Saving Time) plus 11 hours. New Zealand’s Daylight Savings Time starts on the last Sunday in September and ends on the of April.

What-time-is-it-in-New-Zealand.

So taking this in mind, if you visit/phone/skype/Facetime a relative in New Zealand during the UK winter months, the time in New Zealand will be GMT plus 13 hours. This will Take in to account the clocks going back in the UK and the clocks going forward in New Zealand. During the first week of April and the whole of October, the time from the UK to New Zealand Time will 12 hours ahead until the clocks backwards for the end of the UK’s Daylight Savings Time.

What Language is Spoken in New Zealand?

What language is spoken in New Zealand? There are three main languages, where English is spoken by the majority. The second main language in New Zealand is that of the native Maori people. The third is language is the New Zealand Sign Language an officially recognised since 2006. The language of the Maori people is closely related to Tahitian (Tahitian is a Polynesian language, spoken mainly on the Society Islands in French Polynesia. It belongs to the Eastern Polynesian group.) and Cook Islands Māori.

The townships of this historical bay are alive with memories of the area’s colourful past. Take time out to see the well-preserved relics both Maori and European, in romantic Russell, Paihia, Waitangi or Kerikeri.

Where is New Zealand?

Nowhere in the world’s temperate zones are glaciers so accessible than in New Zealand. On the West Coast of the South Island, remnants of the ice age cascade from the vast snowfields of the Southern Alps to valley floors, almost 1,000 feet above sea level.

Glacier | Why Exploring New Zealand Will Be a Trip of a Lifetime

You can enjoy guided excursions exploring stunning ice formations. Or take off on a scenic flight and land amidst New Zealand’s highest peaks overlooking the glaciers. The two most famous villages are Franz Josef and Fox Glacier, good bases from which to plan your days exploring the glaciers.

Explore New Zealand Beautiful Landscapes

Legendary writer Rudyard Kipling was a well-travelled man. He called Milford Sound the “eighth wonder of the world.” Still down South, Milford Sound lies at the heart of Fiordland National Park, a World Heritage area. Cruising the clear, still waters of the Fjord you’ll encounter magnificent sights, such as the awe-inspiring Mitre Peak and Stirling Falls.

NZ-Hills | Why Exploring New Zealand Will Be a Trip of a Lifetime

With the highest rainfall in New Zealand (think feet not inches!) so expect rain when you visit. However, when it pours, the water falls that appear all around are simply amazing. Keep a lookout for wildlife such as dolphins, penguins and seals often seen in their natural habitat. Go on a scenic cruise and gasp at the moody majesty of the Fiord in your Milford Sound Red Boat.

Another worthwhile attraction is the Milford Deep Underwater Observatory Option. Descend 30 feet below the surface and marvel at spectacular marine life, with anemones, sponges, fish and rare red and black coral in their natural habitat.

New Zealand Lord of the Rings Tours

When you visit New Zealand, you cannot leave without going on one of the many tours they have on offer. Ever since the Lord of the Rings ever hit the movie theatres, people have been heading there to see the locations where some of the LOTR movies were filmed. So here list my list of Nine New Zealand Lord of the Rings Tours you can take before you head back home.

  1. Hobbiton Movie Set Tours
  2. Hairy Feet Waitomo Tour
  3. Weta Workshop Studio Tour
  4. Lost World Abseil and Cave Exploration
  5. Reid Nelson Heli Tour
  6. Misty Mountains Heli Hike
  7. LOTR: Glenorchy and Paradise Scenic Tour
  8. Independent Self Drive Tours
  9. Tongariro Crossing- Adrift Guided Adventures (Mordor Tour)

These are by far the most highly rated tours I could find. Some are cheap New Zealand Tours and some are not so cheap. One of the most exciting tours my family and I are taking will be the New Zealand Lord of the Rings  Hobbiton Studio’s Tour. It is a 2.5-hour drive from Auckland and is close to the township of Matamata. I would watch this space for exciting Lord of the Rings Hobbiton photographs in the coming weeks.

The Shire and Hobbiton Studio Tours

According to Oscar winner Peter Jackson, New Zealand was the only landscape on the planet that could have provided the sensational locations for Tolkien’s Middle Earth. You can set off on your voyage of discovery and visit the key areas featured in the films such as The Southern Alps and Queenstown.

Hobbiton Studio Tours

Make sure you stop at Matamata, near Hamilton (a couple of hours drive south of Auckland) and marvel at how the landscape was transformed into the peaceful hobbit village of Hobbiton.

New Zealand Hobbiton Tour Videos

What better way to explore Hobbiton, than through the eyes of those who have already been. Here are three videos which have been shared on YouTube, for you to watch at your leisure.

What is the Capital of New Zealand?

What is the capital city of New Zealand? Wellington is the capital, however, Auckland is where many visitors first set foot in New Zealand. Imagine an urban environment where everyone lives within half an hour of beautiful beaches, hiking trails and a dozen enchanting holiday islands, that’s Auckland. It’s located on the North Island and called the City of Sails. Know why? It has more boats per capita than any other city in the world.

New-Zealand-024 | Why Exploring New Zealand Will Be a Trip of a Lifetime

Almost surrounded by water and covered with volcanic hills, the city boasts a superb harbour and a population of 1.3 million people. Add a background rhythm of Polynesian culture, a passion for outstanding food, wine and shopping – and you’ll want to stay.

Auckland has a pleasant subtropical climate with mild winters (June, July and August) and warm, humid summers (December, January and February). Remember the seasons down here are reversed, so plan your vacation accordingly.

New Zealand Landscape and Best Kept Secrets

There are many beautiful and untouched places in New Zealand, yet, what is more, amazing is some of the views and unparalleled beauty of the New Zealand Landscape.

Auckland is a top choice if you’re interested in wide-open spaces and physical activities. Above the ground, you can go bungee jumping, parachuting and skydiving.

New-Zealand-030 | New Zealand Natural Water Springs

On the ground, you can go hiking, mountain bike riding, skiing, horse riding, rock climbing, and ‘zorbing’. Underground you can go surface caving, cave rafting and hydro sliding; and on the water, you can go jet-boarding, white-water sledging, rafting, boogey boarding, canoeing, kayaking, surfing and scuba diving. When deciding to choose to do less exhilarating activities, such as retail therapy, many Auckland stores are open seven days a week. Their Bars, restaurants and nightclubs welcome patrons well into the night.

New-Zealand-042 | New Zealands Beautiful Landscape and Water Falls

Whether you are stopping for a week or planning to spend a month to explore New Zealand, you need plenty of memory cards in for your camera, a good pair of walking shoes and an experienced travel guide who will help you explore the rich countryside and New Zealand Heritage.

New Zealand’s Rare Wild Life

There is something about New Zealand which has been untainted by man and has been left alone for mother nature to tend and cultivate. Not too long ago, a BBC documentary team spent some time looking at wild forests of the South Islands, to the dolphin pods which swim of the not too far from outer Islands which head into the vastness of the Pacific Ocean. I became intrigued with a bird which has the body of a Parrot and the facial features similar to that of an owl, yet this bird is incapable of flight due to its very short wingspan and body weight. Which Bird am I talking about? The much loved Kakapo. A bird which is in such low numbers, it is close to extinction and is now protected by the New Zealand Government.

New-Zealand-038 | New Zealand Rare Wildlife Birds

Much of forests of the South Islands have remained untouched by time and therefore mankind has left these forest for mother nature to tend and cultivate. There are plenty of sights to see and visit, however, if nature is your thing, then there are Forest and Eco tours you could take part in. Getting married and fancied a break from the big city and wish to see what life is like on the other side of the World, well there are honeymoon options too. New Zealand has one of the last remaining, untouched and unspoiled forests in the world. It has one of the harshest Antarctic currents as the south Antartic air hits the Australasian continent.

New Zealand Tours and Vacations

There are many New Zealand tours and since Lord of the Rings movies and the Hobbit movies. New Zealand has long been a popular tourist destination for Tolkien/LOTR and Hobbit fans. One of the many New Zealand Tours is for Hobbiton Studio Tours aka The Shire. As mentioned above, you can go one of many of the Hobbiton Tours. You could also go and visit many of the locations in the South Islands, but you will need more than 14 days if you truly wish to Explore New Zealand.

There has always been something magical in my mind as to what I have always wanted to visit New Zealand. This post has been inspired mostly on what our family loves about New Zealand, its people and its culture. My in-laws mostly all live in New Zealand and therefore, we wouldn’t need to book any fancy hotels, for that we would be blessed.

New-zealand-tours-tourism

For visitors, Auckland has all types of accommodation. Web sites such as hotel.com.au offer a range from backpacker to budget to luxury international hotels. New Zealand’s North Island attracts more visitors than the South, so it pays to check what’s out there as you plan your trip.

Cheapest Times of the Year to Fly to NZ

The most expensive times of the year to fly to New Zealand are the UK summer holidays and Christmas holidays season (Boxing day and New Year’s day being the cheapest days during the holiday season). A single airfare can cost up to or around £900 per person. Other times of the year which will have cheap flights: mid to late February, September and October to be the best time for cheap air fairs or book your vacation.

How To Pack For a Day Out With The Kids

1

Day trips as a family are huge fun and perhaps more than anything, they are what childhood memories are made of.

So, it’s important to plan in advance in order to make the most of your day together.

It’s not just a question of working out where to go and what to do when you get there, though; you also need to think carefully about what to take with you so that you are prepared for the day ahead.

Here are some ideas; you don’t want to leave anything important behind.

Day Out With The Kids

Your Bag

First and foremost, no one wants to go on a day out with the family with lots of different bags all containing a variety of items.

It’s far better to pick a good, strong, durable bag like the travel backpacks from Zoomlite that will last for a long time and fit in everything you need.

One bag is much better than many and will make the day a lot easier to deal with.

The bag you choose needs to suit you if you’re the one carrying it.

Not only does that mean what it looks like, but how it is worn too. Work out what is most comfortable, and you can more easily find a bag that will suit your needs.

It should be big enough to carry everything required, but not so big that it gets in the way and is far too bulky.

Food And Drinks

Once you have chosen the right bag, you need to think about what to pack in it.

Food and drink are a high priority, especially if you are going somewhere, that doesn’t have anywhere to purchase bottled water and snacks such as a walk through the forest or somewhere in the countryside.

Day Out With The Kids Water Bottle

Bottles of water are ideal, and for younger children, they will need their own bottles too, which can be filled as you go rather than running the risk of having them leak over everything else in your bag.

As for food, crackers and dried fruit or muesli bars are always a great idea – they can easily be stored, and they offer an energy boost when needed.

Remember, these are only snacks, so you don’t have to take too many.

Pack For a Day Out With The Kids – Spare Clothing

You won’t always need to take spare clothing with you on a day trip.

It will depend on how old your children are and where you are going.

Day Out With The Kids Spare Clothing

Some places, such as the beach, are going to require a change of clothes.

Others might do if they are muddy or there are messy activities involved.

Other places won’t require these spare clothes at all, assuming the child is old enough to manage without making a mess.

Judge the day and the people coming with you, and then determine what spare clothes you might need to pack.

Pack For a Day Out With The Kids – First Aid

It’s better to have packed a basic first aid kit and not need it, than not to pack one and find that it is necessary.

Items to pack in your first aid kit include:

  • Sunscreen
  • Plasters
  • Antiseptic wipes
  • Bandages
  • Tissues

This should cover all minor injuries, and if anything, more is required then you may need to cut your day trip short and head to the emergency department, to have a doctor fix the issue instead.

The Best and Ultimate Photography Wish List

0

Last week I invited my husband to create a photography wish list and to write a guest post on the blog.

The Nikon D850 Unboxing and Review - Box Contents

John is a developing photographer and improving his skills each day. We have a great camera but there are lots of things we both would love to improve the photography experience both in our personal lives and for our blogs.

My Photography Wish List

This wish list is what I would call my ultimate photography wish list. It comprises of what I consider to the be the best photography equipment currently on the market.

As part of blogging, photography and reviewing products we like to take the best pictures we can and I would love to get more equipment and eventually upgrade.

Camera-Wish-List

There are lots of camera gear that I would love to use as I do more photography shoots, reviews and fashion photography with my daughter. Having a good camera is very important. If you can’t take decent photographs, then it really does effect the quality of a blog post.

I have been really interested in photography for sometime and being on a limited budget I have managed to slowly collect some equipment over the past few years. I have put together my photography wish list, the camera and some of the equipment and lenses I would like with purchase in the coming years.

Let’s go through this list by naming the numbers on the picture(s) below.

  1. Nikon D850
  2. Multi-Power Battery Pack MD-D18
  3. AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm ƒ/2.8E ED VR
  4. NikkorAF-S 14-25mm ƒ/2.8G ED
  5. Manfrotto – 190 KIT ALU – 4 SECTIONS HORIZ COLUMN TRIPD -3 WAY HEAD
  6. Sigma 85mm ƒ/1.4 or Nikkor 85mm ƒ/1.4
  7. Nikkor AF-S 70-200mm ƒ/2.8G FL ED VR
  8. AF-S Nikkor 800mm ƒ/5.6 FL ED VR
  9. AF-S Teleconvertor TC-17E II
  10.  Sigma 50mm ƒ/1.4G or Nikkor AF-S 50mm ƒ/1.4G
  11. SANDISK 256GB EXTREME SDXC UHS-I SD CLASS 10 4K
  12. SanDisk Extreme Pro 256GB CompactFlash UDMA 7 CF Memory Card 160MB/s
  13. AF-S 35MM ƒ/1.4G

Photography Studio Lighting

Now this is the camera equipment that has high specifications and would last a very long time, but with all camera equipment, lighting and backdrops are most of the time equally as important as the camera.

Studio-lighting

Not everyone can afford studio lighting equipment, however, there are practical uses for having minimal studio lighting.

Gadgets For The Outdoors Geek

0

The outdoors geek is the best type of geek. Typically when we talk about this, you would think of a geek as someone who is indoors in their room all of the time, gaming away or doing whatever in the home.

But no, a geek is someone who we would like to define as having a deep interest in technology, no matter what it be, or where that technology can be used.

But we think the outdoors geek is the best type of geek because it gets you out and about and keeping healthy.

Unless of course you just love the idea of outdoor gadgets, you don’t actually go outside and use them… that’s sort of defeating the object!

But, for those of you who love getting outside and exploring, and would like to know a little bit more as to the gadgets that are out there for you, you’re in the right place.

We’ve got a great list for you that we think you should go and try out, you just have to battle this cold and go out and explore. In our eyes, now is the prettiest time to go and do it!

Gadgets For The Outdoors Geek

Binoculars

Binoculars are super cool and underestimated. They literally help you see in crystal clear vision for such a distance, and are perfect for days when you want to go on the hunt for some animals that you might not have seen before.

If you haven’t done it before, then you might think it’s a little bit weird. But it’s actually one of the most therapeutic things you can do.

All you need to do is find a good pair, such as the monarch binoculars, and get yourself in a good position where you know you’re going to see a good range of animals, and make sure you’re comfy for the day.

You’ll often find that it becomes a little bit of a stake out until you see something cool, but just relaxing outdoors, taking in all of the scenery and nature around you is pretty cool!

Drones

Now haven’t drones been in the press a lot lately, especially in the UK. They’re so much fun, yet capable of actually causing some serious damage if you decide to be stupid with them.

The UK has had such a problem with people purposely flying drones close to airports, most likely in order to get close up shots of planes, that they’re causing a massive hazard.

Some of these drones are actually pretty big, and if sucked into a jet engine, would cause a hell of a lot of problems.

So, if you’re going to get one, at least make sure you use it safely and away from others. But if you do get a drone, we promise that you’re in for endless hours of fun.

Once you get used to knowing how to fly one, you just have to go to some super cool places to get some great shots.

They can fly so high and agile, that it really doesn’t matter where you go, you’re guaranteed a good shot with them.

Gadgets For Camping

If you like the outdoors, then you no doubt like things like camping as well.

Camping is one of the best things you can do because it’s just so cheap, it’s like a little holiday, and it helps to make you feel more at one with nature.

There’s so many beautiful camping spots around the world as well if you were looking to travel and do it.

But our top piece of technology, especially for this time of year, is the battery powered electric blanket.

It’s just so warm and toasty, and keeps you nice and happy throughout the night. You’ll also find that it acts as a little radiator for the night as well.

It’ll definitely mean that you don’t wake up with a running nose and freezing cold as well.

The cheaper versions we think work just as well as the more expensive ones, you just need to read the reviews to make sure you’re getting a reliable and safe one!

Exercising

Now this might be the total opposite to what you do in your day to day basis, but for those of you that do like to exercise, we’ve got a great piece of tech for you.

You might have seen pretty much everyone walking around with these, or heard about them so much that you know what they are, but Fitbits are the way forward.

It tracks pretty much everything you do, from weightlifting to walking, and is a great way of keeping your fitness levels up!

4 Gadgets That Take the Stress out of Camping

0

Going camping is a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of life, but it can sometimes be quite a daunting task.

Being stripped of all your creature comforts is not nice for anyone, even the most seasoned of tent-dwellers.

Today, however, a number of technologies are helping to bridge the gap between the campsite and home, and they are making everything about being close to nature far less stressful.

Here are four gadgets that are taking the stress out of camping:

1. Solar Powered Fairy Lights

If you want to avoid the hassle of remembering to bring batteries on your camping trip, then simply pack some solar powered fairy lights instead.

Solar-Powered=Fairy-Lights | Gadgets That Take the Stress out of Camping

They will charge themselves up throughout the day and then provide your camping area with light at night.

They are eco-eco-friendly and economical, too, which means nothing will be impacted by their usage (just, whatever you do, don’t forget to bring them home with you so as to avoid them becoming a potential strangling hazard for wildlife).

2. Backpacking GPS

There’s nothing more stressful about camping than getting lost in the wilderness. At the very least, it’s a massive inconvenience that could see you miss out on camp supper and the chance to roast marshmallows around the fire — at its worst, getting lost could put you in serious danger.

Camping GPS | Gadgets That Take the Stress out of Camping

When lost in the wilderness, especially when you are alone, you could face any number of problems, such as a drop in the temperature or the prospect of angry wildlife.

For this reason, knowing how to get back to your campsite at all times is paramount.

Fortunately, GPS technology makes that possible. By having one of these mapping gadgets on your person when you find yourself lost, you’ll find it incredibly easy to find your way back to your makeshift home.

To find the very best in GPS technology, make sure to head to Outdoor Wilds — there, you’ll find reviews on all the latest and best gadgets, such as the Garmin 720T.

3. Water Filter system

Having a healthy supply of drinkable water is essential if you want to stay safe and stress-free on your next outdoors experience.

Water Filter System | Gadgets That Take the Stress out of Camping

By bringing a water filter system along with you on your trip, you’ll have just that. Such a device will allow you to clean water, meaning you’d never have to worry about drinking anything that is unsafe or bad for your health.

4. Pressure Shower

When you spend time outdoors, it’s nice to know that showers are available. You can ensure that this is the case at all times if you bring a portable pressure shower along with you.

Camping Pressure Shower | Gadgets That Take the Stress out of Camping

All you’d have to do is fill the shower bag with water, apply pressure to the foot pump, and, as if by magic, you’d have high-pressured water that you can use to clean yourself. If you leave it in the sun, this water will be warm.

The four camping gadgets listed above are really helping campers feel at home in nature, so make sure to pack them and bring them along when you next head outdoors.

These Star Wars Quotes are not in movie chronological order, but from when the first Star Wars movie came out in 1977.

There has even been a Star Wars day named on May the 4th each year, with May the 6th taken up for the Sith (enemies of the Jedi). I hope you enjoy these Star Wars Quotes and share them on your social media.

May The 4th Be With You Quote

Darth Vader Quotes

I find your lack of faith disturbing. – Darth Vader. I have this as a messenger tone for my cell-phone and it gets a lot of heads turning. It can be quite funny some of the time, yet my close family just role their eyes.

This has to be one of the most memorable quotes from Darth Vader when we first see him on the Death Star. This vader quote has to be my all time favourite.

The Empire Strikes Back Quotes

Here are some of the most memorable and famous star wars quotes from The Empire Strikes Back. I’m sure you will agree that they are all definitely worth remembering!

What Is A Nerf Herder?

Why you stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf-herder!” – Leia Organa

What Is A Nerf Herder?

Nerf herder” is a derogatory term used by the villainous characters in Star Wars to insult and put down Han Solo and his crew. The phrase may have been inspired by the slang word “herd,” meaning “to gather as a group.” In turn, this could have been inspired by similar slang words such as “s herd together” or “r herd.”

The word was coined by Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan when she noticed Han Solo and Chewbacca in the Mos Eisley Cantina on Tatooine. After stumbling out of the cantina, Leia called after them, “We’ll meet again,” before yelling back to Han, “May the Force be with you!”

“May the Force be with you,” Han smirked back to Leia. Then he, Chewie and Luke were out of sight. The other patrons in the cantina snickered at Leia’s remark and phrase.

That Boy Was Our Last Hope

That Boy was our last hope.” – Obi-Wan Kenobi That boy was our last hope is a fabulous quote from the Star Wars franchise. The quote is usually attributed to Obi-Wan Kenobi after Luke Skywalker goes against his training and returns to save them from Darth Vader’s Death Squadron, but was actually spoken by General Jan Dodonna of the Rebel Alliance.

That Boy was our last hope | 31 Memorable Star Wars Quotes for Geeks

A Funny Leia Organa Quote

I don’t know where you get your delusions laser brain.” – Leia Organa When Leia Organa was a senator for Alderaan, she was constantly at odds with the Empire. She had many run-ins and yelled at many Imperial officers as well as Darth Vader himself.

Here is one of my favorite Leia Organa quotes where she uses the term Laser brain!

Laser-brain | 31 Memorable Star Wars Quotes for Geeks

C-3PO Quote

Sir, the possibility of successfully navigating an asteroid field is approximately 3,720 to 1” – C-3PO.

This quote by C-3PO comes from the opening of the Empire Strikes Back and is one of the most memorable lines in Star Wars.

However, this may not be entirely correct, according to a recent interview with Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), who states C-3PO may have been mistaken by several orders of magnitude!

Mayhew has also stated that he believes this error was deliberate and is a continuity error.

What do you think? Is C-3PO correct, or was it a mistake by the filmmakers?

Memorable Han Solo Quote

Never tell me the odds” – Han Solo

Han Solo is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. He appears in the original trilogy as a smuggler who seems to be running away from trouble. He is also featured in the prequel film series, where he is revealed to be one of the leaders of the Rebel Alliance; allies of Luke Skywalker.

Han Solo gained his fame through his work as a smuggler and his adventures with Jedi Master Obi-Wan. This quote about “the odds” is typical of Han Solo and it is probably the most famous quote that he has. This particular quote comes from Episode IV: A New Hope

Never Tell Me the Odds | 31 Memorable Star Wars Quotes for Geeks

Final Quote By Han Solo

I love you.” Han “I know” Leia – The last words they exchange before Han Solo is frozen in Carbonite.

Just before Han Solo is put into Carbonite he tells Leia “I love you” to which she replies, “I know”.

Han Solo has been frozen in carbonite for a long time. In the latest Star Wars movie it’s revealed that Han was unfrozen from his coma/hibernation and Leia hasn’t seen him since the beginning of the movie.

Leia Organa goes searching for Han Solo at Maz Kanata’s castle to figure out where he is and how to find him. She finds him at the bar drinking his sorrows away with Chewie who gives her a hug. Leia rushes over and tells Han that she loves him, that she thought about him everyday during the time they were apart, and that she heard him calling her in the silent night.

Han Solo doesn’t understand why she loves him so much when he has yet to change from his old ways.

I love you, I know | 31 Memorable Star Wars Quotes for Geeks

Return of the Jedi Quotes

These return of the Jedi quotes are fantastic memorable and famous star wars quotes which I really love. Which is your favorite?

I have a bad feeling about this!” – Han Solo – One of Hans most famous catch phrases.

Han Solo says this in all three movies.

Han Solo’s primary motivation is money, but he eventually changes his outlook to helping the rebel alliance because of his relationship with Leia Organa.

Han Solo is famous for saying “I have a bad feeling about this” and it’s one quote I find myself saying regular when something doesn’t feel right or goes wrong.

I have a bad feeling about this. | 31 Memorable Star Wars Quotes for Geeks

What Is A Thermal Detonator?

He’s holding a thermal detonator!” – C-3PO

A thermal detonator is a weapon used in the fictional Star Wars universe. Thermal detonators are powerful, short-ranged explosives that can destroy vehicles and buildings.

Han Solo’s many run-ins with these weapons demonstrate his skill at using them, although he has been known to accidentally activate one or simply lose it. Once, Han threw one at the ceiling of a room hoping to crush some Storm Troopers, but instead it went off.

When C-3P0 talks about a thermal detonator, he mentions that Han uses it the most; Chewbacca is said to lose them, and Lando has one go off in his pocket.

They are also known as “DTs” or “death sticks.”

General Ackbar Quote

It’s a trap!” – General Ackbar – The most used phrased in memes I have seen other than “May the Force Be With You.”

It’s a trap by General Ackbar is one of the most famous star wars quotes I know. General Ackbar is a fictional character from the Star Wars universe. Ackbar was a military commander of the Alliance to Restore the Republic and later became a politician of the New Republic, finally serving as Chancellor.

When referring to the trap Ackbar is talking about the Empire’s move to trap the rebel alliance. This quote is famous because its memorable, has great humor and is one you won’t forget.

It's a Trap! | 31 Memorable Star Wars Quotes for Geeks

Darth Vader Quote

Just for once, let me look on you with my own eyes.” – Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker

This is a famous star wars quote from the movie Return of the Jedi, when Darth Vader is confronted with his son Luke Skywalker and says those words.

This quote signifies a turning point in the movie as it means that Darth Vader is about to change sides and help his son to defeat the empire “for the good of the galaxy”.

Just for once, let me look on you with my own eyes | 31 Memorable Star Wars Quotes for Geeks

Emperor Palpatine Quote

Now, young Skywalker, you will die.” – Emperor Palpatine

Emperor Palpatine is not a fan of Skywalker.

Skywalker has somehow managed to become a thorn in his side, the only thing standing between Palpatine and complete domination of the galaxy. And yet, he seems powerless against this pathetic boy. This Jedi.

Could there be anything more annoying for Palpatine?

Now-young-skywalker-you-will-die | 31 Memorable Star Wars Quotes for Geeks

Luke Skywalker Quote

There is good in him. I’ve felt it.” – Luke Skywalker

Luke Skywalker believes there is good in Darth Vader, his father. Even at the end of the first film, when Darth Vader is trying to kill Luke, he pleads for him not to kill him by telling him that there is still good in him.

This change does not happen over night though and it turns out that Darth Vader was lying to Luke all along.

This quote is significant because it portrays Darth Vader as a broken character, who has the ability to feel, but does not know how to act on those new emotions; it also reinforces the spiritual concept that there is some good in everyone.

The Phantom Menace Quotes

If you love the Phantom menace then you may recognise some of these famous star wars quotes! The Phantom menace is one of the famous films in the star wars franchise, so here are some quotes from all over the film!

Qui-Gon Jinn Quote

There’s always a bigger fish.” – Qui-Gon Jinn

The Phantom Menace is full of many memorable things, without a doubt this quote is one of them. In context, this quote is said by Qui-Gon Jinn, who is explaining to Anakin about how the Sith are everywhere.

This quote was also spoken in Empire Strikes back by Yoda, he talks about the bigger fish being Luke Skywalker’s father.

Star Wars Qui-Gon Jin Quote

You will become a Jedi, I promise.” – Qui-Gon Jinn

When Qui-Gon Jinn made this promise to little Anakin Skywalker, he had no idea how much it would come true.

The first line of Qui-Gon Jinn’s dialogue in The Phantom Menace foreshadows his death later on in the film. It also foreshadows the many promises that Qui-Gon makes throughout the movie.

One particular promise that Qui-Gon makes when he saves Jar Jar Binks off of Tatooine comes true when Anakin Skywalker is made a Jedi Knight by Obi Wan Kenobi at the end of Revenge of the Sith .

Mace Windu Star Wars Quote

Remember, there are two Sith Lords: a master and an apprentice.” – Mace Windu

Mace Windu is a fictional character in the Star Wars universe, portrayed by actor Samuel L. Jackson in the prequel films of George Lucas. In addition to his signature purple lightsaber, he has been well known for making statements that attempt to reveal parts of the future plot of the saga, by sometimes revealing secrets or hinting at what will happen in the next movie.

Many Star Wars fans have speculated that this was one of Windu’s most important quotes, which could lead to something major happening in the upcoming sequel trilogy.

Attack of the Clones Quotes

Do you love attack of the clones? Here are a few memorable star wars quotes from this classic action film.

Quote By Count Dooku

I sense great fear in you, Skywalker. You have hate. You have anger, but you do not use them.” – Count Dooku

This statement from Count Dooku was towards Darth Vader’s son, Luke Skywalker. This shows that the dark side of the force is something more than just hate and anger, but also fear. Many Sith have used fear to their advantage in order to gain a powerful position against their foes.

Perhaps one of the most well-known users of fear was Palpatine, who used this power throughout the events of both the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War.

The Jedi have been aware of fear’s potential grip on a person since time immemorial, and all Jedi are taught to shield themselves from its influence.

I sense a great fear in your Skywalker. You have hate. You have anger, but you do not use them. | 31 Memorable Star Wars Quotes for Geeks

Count Dooku Star Wars Quote

Master Kenobi, you disappoint me. Yoda holds you in such high esteem. Surely you can do better!” – Count Dooku

When Count Dooku says, “Master Kenobi, you disappoint me. Yoda holds you in such high esteem. Surely you can do better!” he is addressing the Jedi Master Obi-wan Kenobi when Dooku leaves his fight with Anakin Skywalker and Obi-wan sets off for a brief duel of his own with Dooku.

This takes place during the Clone Wars . Count Dooku, a Sith Lord, is seen as the mastermind behind the Separatist movement, which is seeking to divide the Galactic Republic.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Famous Quote

Well, if droids could think, there’d be none of us here, would there?” – Obi-Wan Kenobi

Well, I love this quote. But you know, the truth is even if droids could think and function like humans (they can’t) there would be a lot of us here. Human beings aren’t as great as we think we are after all.

Most times we feel special, better than animals and machines because we’ve been given this gift of consciousness and reason. Yet , most of the time we don’t use it. We make bad decisions, ignore opportunities and let living beings suffer simply because we are too selfish to care (yes, I’m talking about you).

Human beings could learn a lot from droids about how to behave in certain situations or simply how to think clearly.

Well, if droids could think, there'd be none of us here, would there? | 31 Memorable Star Wars Quotes for Geeks

Memorable Star Wars Jango Fett Quote

I’m just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe.” – Jango Fett

This quote from the bounty hunter Jango Fett perfectly describes the Mandalorian people in a nutshell. They are simple beings who believe in honor, loyalty and living your life free from greed and corruption.

The planet Mandalore has been home to the Mandalorian warrior clans for centuries. Jango Fett was himself a Mandalorian and was descended from the Taung race. He clearly considered himself a simple man.

Revenge of the Sith Quotes

Revenge of the Sith is a great movie and here are some memorable and famous Star Wars quotes from this movie.

Chancellor Palpatine

The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.” – Chancellor Palpatine

This quote by Chancellor Palpatine is meant to highlight the dangers of Anakin Skywalker’s training and tempt him into pledging himself to The Sith. However, the quote is just as applicable to another group: The Nightsisters of Dathomir.

Famous Darth Sidious Quote

Power! Unlimited power!” – Darth Sidious

Nearly 14 years ago, the world was introduced to Darth Sidious. The character would go on to become one of the most significant in all six Star Wars movies and help build anticipation for what was to come: a showdown with his former master and an intense battle against the galaxy’s last hope – the Chosen One Anakin Skywalker.

Power! Unlimited Power! | 31 Memorable Star Wars Quotes for Geeks

Famous Padme Amidala Quote

So this is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause.” – Padmé Amidala

This quote by Padme Amidala is extremely poignant. She foresees the beginning of the end of liberty that she fought so hard for. In her heart she knows that the constitutional republic of the Galactic Republic is sliding down a slippery slope.

And as we have all seen in “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith”, there comes a time when those who try to prevent tyranny from taking a firm foothold fail to do so and it becomes too late.

Count Dooku Star Wars Quote

I sense great fear in you, Skywalker. You have hate… you have anger… but you don’t use them.” – Count Dooku

Count Dooku can sense the fear of Luke Skywalker in “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” movie. This is because Dooku himself was once a Jedi and can sense it when others are in danger or full of fear.

Memorable Rogue One Quotes

What Hope? Rebellions are built on hope!”  – Jyn Erso – Rogue One

In Star Wars Rogue One, Jyn Erso says to a fellow rebel “Rebellions are built on hope!” In Rogue One, we see what happens to hope in the face of despair.

Hope is destroyed by the overwhelming power of the Death Star and any chance at victory is extinguished from the galaxy.

However, even though it should be obvious that there is no hope left in Rogue One, I have seen numerous people comment on how they didn’t get emotional at all during the final battle.

Jyn Erson Star Wars Quote

I’ve never had the luxury of political opinions.” – Jyn Erso – Rogue One

The above quote by Jyn was seen in the teasers for Rogue One, but it never actually showed up in the final product.

Many fans are very interested in knowing if this quote was removed from the movie or if it is only being saved for another time. A lot of people would love to know her political orientation.

Memorable Star Wars Quote By K-S20

“Jyn, I’ll be there for you. Cassian said I had to.” – K-S20

K-2SO is a droid and takes things literally. When he tells Jyn he will be there for her, the irony is that he is not physically capable of actually being there for her. He will let her know that she can count on him though, even if it is just the promise of his words.

Famous Star Wars Quote About The Force

I’m one with the Force. The Force is with me.” – Chirrut Îmwe

What is the Force and why should we care? We’ll get into that in a little bit. Let’s start with Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen), the blind warrior monk, and his litany of devotion to something greater than himself.

His dialogue during one of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ’s most stirring scenes provides a spiritual movement to the movie’s accompaniment.

The Force Awakens Quotes

Here are some top memorable quotes from the Star Wars movie, the force awakens.

Famous Rey Quotes From Star Wars

The garbage’ll do!” – Rey

When Rey and Finn first meet Han Solo, they attempt to escape the New order and Rey comically refers to the Mellenium falcon as a piece of junk.

Episode VII is introduced with this subtle but clever reference to the Millennium Falcon as a “piece of junk” (or, more euphemistically, “garbage”), which is quite an ironic statement considering that Han Solo’s beloved spaceship would go on to be one of the most iconic starships in all of science fiction.

Han Solo Quote Speaking To Chewbacca

31-Dr-Seuss-Quotes-Which-Will-Inspire-You Dr Seuss Quotes Which Will Inspire You

Inspirational Dr Seuss Quotes
